I am glad to see Shell is being forced to improve spill management and employee training. I witnessed a Shell gas fire Oct 2 in the Florida Keys that burned a police officer over 50% of his body. His motorcycle slipped on a puddle of gasoline that i had just slipped in and had reported to the clerk on duty. We were gassing our boat and never expected to be in the middle of such a horrible accident. My friend put the flames out on the Officer as quickly as possible but he still remains in the Miami burn center. I hope Florida also forces Shell to conduct safer practices at their locations.

I am not surprised to see this story. I witnessed a motorcycle catch fire seriously burning a Florida police officer at a Shell Station. My friend and I were gassing up our boat in the keys Oct 2 and ended up putting a man out on fire caused from a puddle of gas I had just slipped on by the pump and reported to the store clerks. This is a good thing to see happen in California...I hope all Florida gas companies increase their safety precautions as well...
