Position:  NEWS PRODUCER

San Diego 6 seeks a full-time News Producer. Successful candidate must have strong news judgment and be able to handle multiple live shots and breaking news. Strong writing skills required from applicant who must be editorially mature with solid knowledge of local and national news. Able to deliver captivating copy both literally and visually in a timely manner.

Responsibilities:

·         Gather news and information for the production of newscasts.

·         Work with staff to determine show content and placement, and assign personnel for the development of news stories.

·         Ensure journalistic standards for fairness, accuracy and relevancy.

·         Write and produce creative and compelling news stories and teases to attract and maintain viewer interest.

·         Solid news judgment and the ability to manage staff and make sound editorial decisions on show content and structure essential.

·         Ability to work independently in a fast-paced newsroom and as a team player.

Qualifications:

·         Minimum of 2-3 years news producing experience required.

·         Must have a minimum of two years of writing/producing experience in a broadcast newsroom

·         Excellent writing, organization and communication skills required.

·         Strong broadcast writing skills including grammar, spelling and usage

·         Ability to calmly deal with changing environments and tight deadlines

·         Ability to communicate effectively with producers, writers, editors and directors

·         Early morning hours may be required

·         Scheduled on holidays

·         iNews knowledge a plus.
