What are the Emmy Awards?
The purpose of the Emmy Awards is to recognize outstanding achievements in television by conferring annual awards of merit in the chapter’s designated award region. The annual presentation of these awards is intended to be an incentive for the continued pursuit of excellence for those working in the television industry and to focus public attention on outstanding cultural, educational, technological, entertainment, news and informational achievements in television.
Who is N.A.T.A.S?
The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (NATAS) was founded in 1957. It is dedicated to the advancement of the arts and sciences of television and the promotion of creative leadership for artistic, educational and technical achievements within the television industry. It recognizes excellence in television with the coveted Emmy Award. There are eighteen Chapters of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences who bring Emmy Awards – and other activities – to local and regional television coast-to-coast across America. San Diego is part the Pacific Southwest Chapter of NATAS.
