VISTA - A drunken driver who killed a passenger in a rollover crash in Vista was sentenced Thursday to four years in state prison.
Jesus Fernandez Alonzo, 26, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. He was sentenced by Vista Superior Court Judge Aaron Katz.
Sheriff's officials said Alonzo was eastbound on West Vista Way near Santa Clara Drive about 11:30 p.m. on April 17 when he crashed his Toyota 4- Runner.
His passenger, 45-year-old Lorenzo Gabriel Lopez Gonzalez of Oceanside, was thrown clear of the SUV and died before he could be airlifted to a hospital.
