EL CAJON - A woman who shot her husband during an argument in their La Mesa home was sentenced Friday to 120 days in custody, probation and a domestic violence recovery program.

Kalisa Wells, 60, a caterer and party planner, faced up to 14 years in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of corporal injury to a spouse and an allegation that she personally used a firearm.

Her husband, former KGTV news director Donald M. Wells, 55, was shot in the hip and spent four days in a hospital.

Officers arrested Kalisa Wells at the scene of the May 29 shooting and found a revolver on a kitchen counter.

She was sentenced by El Cajon Judge William McGrath.

Donald Wells was news director at KGTV's 10News for two years of his 14-year career at the station. His Internet biography says he has been "Transformation Project Lead" at the ABC affiliate for one year.
