SAN DIEGO - Authorities released the name Tuesday of a 38-year-old bicyclist who was struck and killed by a city dump truck in an Oak Park-area intersection.  It happened when the bicyclist attempted to pass the truck on the right.

Juan Carlos Navarro died at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly before 1 p.m. Monday at Krenning Street and College Grove Drive, said San Diego police Detective Gary Hassen and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

No other injuries were reported.

Officers closed down traffic lanes at the site of the accident and on nearby 54th Street for several hours to allow for investigations.
