OCEANSIDE - A hit-and-run driver is blamed for causing a multi-vehicle rollover crash on State Route 78 that involved a big rig, a transit bus and several other vehicles in Oceanside. Several people are reported injured.
The accident happened in the area of State Route 78 eastbound before Jefferson Street.
The crashed damaged some power lines and sparked a small brush fire. Power was knocked out to about 1,800 addresses as a result.
Initial reports from the California Highway Patrol indicated the suspected hit and run driver was in a black SUV with red flames pulling a trailer. The license plate is believed to be 1KX9384.
