Car Plows Through Pet Store in Midway AreaSAN DIEGO - 29-year old Austin Bravata was on his way to get coffee when he came within two to three feet of getting run down by a car Friday afternoon. "I was terrified, I had to jump out of the way," said Bravata. "I thought I was going to die." At about 4:30, 62-year old Nancy Caine was trying to park the car when it went out of control. The Passat crashed through a Pet People store on Midway Drive. San Diego Police say the car came just inches from hitting an employee working the register inside the store. The driver, Nancy Caine and her dog, both escaped the crash uninjured. Caine told San Diego 6 news that she thought she had hit the brake when the car suddenly accelerated. She says she's not sure if the car malfunctioned, or if she accidentally hit the wrong pedal. Police say they do not believe drugs or alcohol are involved. They are still investigating the cause of the crash. "It's just unbelievable that no one was hurt," said Jim Michael who was passing by the store just minutes after the accident. |
