SAN DIEGO - Councilman Carl DeMaio and Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, R-San Diego, raised the most money among San Diego mayoral candidates who filed campaign finance reports Tuesday.

According to forms filed with the city clerk's office, DeMaio raised $976,000 in 2011 -- with $431,000 of that sum in the second six months of the year. Of the grand total, DeMaio contributed nearly $356,000 of his own money.

DeMaio had made a $50,000 loan to the campaign which has been repaid.

DeMaio listed almost $815,000 in hand and $63,000 in unpaid bills.

Fletcher raised $425,000 in the final six months of 2011 for a total of $775,000. He did not use any of his own money during that time period.

He listed $553,000 cash in hand and debts of almost $21,000.

Rep. Bob Filner, D-San Diego, reported that he raised $111,000 between July and the end of the year, for a grand fundraising total of $213,000.

Filner, the only major Democrat in the race, reported having $41,000 cash in hand, and almost $16,000 in unpaid bills.

District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis reported that she raised $308,000 over the last six months of the year for a total of $453,000. She said she had $276,000 case in hand and $36,000 of outstanding debt.

Tuesday was the last day to file.

UPDATE: San Diego 6 previously reported in a headline that Carl Demaio contributed nearly $406,000 to his own campaign.

That information was provided by City News Service and has since been corrected.

He actually contributed nearly $356,000 to his own campaign. We regret the error.
