ESCONDIDO - On February 6, 2010, around 7:30 p.m., the Escondido Police Department Communications Center received a call regarding a carjacking and stabbing that had just occurred in the 1600 Block of East Valley Parkway. Officers arrived on scene in about one minute and made contact with the victims.
The victims were parked outside of a business waiting for their dinner to be prepared when several Hispanic male subjects that exited from a white mini-van that was parked nearby approached them. The suspects were armed with knives and demanded the victims exit the vehicle. As the male victim exited the car, a physical altercation occurred and during the altercation he was stabbed in the chest.
The suspects entered the victim’s vehicle and fled the area along with the white mini-van. The stolen vehicle was a gold Saturn 4-door. The stolen vehicle was recovered approximately 15 minutes later in the area of Ohio Avenue and Cedar Street. Forensic Evidence Technicians were called to the scene to process the vehicle for evidence.
The male victim was transported to an area hospital where he underwent medical treatment for his stab wound. He is listed in critical, but stable condition. The female and child were not injured during the crime.
The descriptions of two of the suspects are as follows:
Suspect #1 is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a black shirt and dark blue Dickies pants. There is no further information.
Suspect #2 is described as a Hispanic male, wearing a white shirt, white hat and had a goatee. There is no further information.
