Man Killed in Accident on SR-75 ID'd

CORONADO  - Authorities Friday identified a 62-year-old man who was killed when he drove his car into opposing traffic lanes before the vehicle ended up on its side next to the San Diego Bay.

Donn Alexander Sterling of San Diego was driving alone in a white Honda sedan on southbound state Route 75, near Fiddlers Cove Marina, when the accident occurred about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, according to Coronado police and the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.

Sterling drove into northbound SR-75 lanes for unknown reasons before tumbling down an embankment, police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sterling worked in Coronado for the U.S. Postal Service, the Medical Examiner's Office reported.
