Radio Station Truck Erupts in Flames

EL CAJON - A KSON-FM (97.3) truck was heavily damaged by a fire that broke out Wednesday as the driver was sitting in traffic in El Cajon and suddenly smelled smoke.

The driver turned around and saw flames and quickly got out at North Magnolia Avenue, just north of East Main Street just before 2 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said.

Firefighters from Heartland Fire & Rescue responded and doused the fire in less than 10 minutes while El Cajon police re-routed traffic until the van could be towed away, authorities said.

The fire's cause was not immediately known.
