Secretary of Labor to Tour San Diego Job Corps CenterSAN DIEGO - Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis will tour the San Diego Job Corps Center on Friday, Jan. 27, to see firsthand the advanced manufacturing and construction trades training programs preparing Job Corps students for good jobs. The center’s curricula have been updated and upgraded with “green” procedures and practices. Following the tour, Secretary Solis will have lunch with Job Corps students, recent graduates, and community and labor leaders to discuss the president’s State of the Union address and how the San Diego Job Corps Center is playing an important role in making the president’s vision a reality. At San Diego Job Corps, students receive the skills needed to succeed in today’s workforce – at no cost to them or their families. Job Corps is an education and career technical training program administered by the U.S. Department of Labor that helps young people ages 16 through 24 improve the quality of their lives through career technical and academic training. |
