POWAY - A masked woman with a long-barreled gun robbed a North County bank on Wednesday, a sheriff's official reported.
The holdup at San Diego National Bank, 13395 Poway Road, was reported shortly after 11 a.m., Lt. Hope Andrews said.
The thief, who was wearing a blue hooded jacket and a clear plastic mask, fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, leaving the area in the direction of a riverbed area behind a movie theater, the lieutenant said.
Deputies searched the neighborhood with help from a sheriff's helicopter crew but were unable to locate the bandit. Authorities had no detailed description of the woman.
Hookah Lounge Robbery
SAN DIEGO - A gunman wearing a red bandana over his face robbed the manager of a hookah lounge in Colina Del Sol, police said Wednesday.
The robber confronted the manager of The Tangiers Hookah Lounge at 5795 El Cajon Blvd. around 11:15 p.m. Tuesday and took his wallet, cash and a cell phone at gunpoint, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.
The robber then ran away eastbound on El Cajon Boulevard, according to Delimitros.
Police described him as black, 25-30 years old, around 6 feet 2 and 170 pounds, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a white T-shirt, red pants and a red bandana over his face.
Walgreens Robbery
SAN DIEGO - A gunman robbed a Walgreens drugstore in North Park early Wednesday but no one was hurt, police said.
The robber entered the store at 3222 University Ave. shortly after midnight and demanded cash at gunpoint from an employee, San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros said.
The employee complied and the man ran out of the store, headed northbound, he said.
Police described him as black, 35-40 years old, around 6 feet tall with a thin build and thin mustache. He was last seen wearing a blue long-sleeve thermal-type shirt, blue jeans and wire-rim glasses.
