SAN DIEGO - A swarm of minor earthquakes continues near the U.S.-Mexico border.
A magnitude 3.3 earthquake rattled the area overnight.
The earthquake was recorded at 11:20 p.m. Tuesday and was centered about 9 miles west-southwest of Calexico and 10 miles west of Mexicali, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A magnitude 3.6 earthquake was recorded earlier Tuesday at 2:56 a.m. about 9 miles west of Calexico and 11 miles south-southwest of El Centro.
About three hours earlier a magnitude 3.8 earthquake was felt in the same general area.
A 4.1 magnitude earthquake late Monday morning was the strongest of the swarm. A few people west of the mountains in San Diego County have reported feeling the earthquakes, but most of the shaking has been felt in desert areas near the border.
Earthquakes this light are not typically considered strong enough to cause damage or injury, according to the U.S.G.S.
