EL CAJON - A possibly gang-related stabbing at an East County secondary school late Monday afternoon left a 17-year-old boy hospitalized with an apparently non-life-threatening wound, police reported.
Two youths confronted the victim in a parking lot at El Cajon Valley High shortly before 4 p.m., Lt. Jim Redman said. Following a brief exchange, one of the antagonists pulled a knife and stabbed the victim.
Medics took the injured teen to Sharp Memorial Hospital in San Diego for treatment of a stab wound to the back, the lieutenant said. The boy was expected to recover, Redman said.
No suspects had been arrested or identified by early evening, according to Redman.
"The (assailant and his companion) are believed to be ex-students, and this incident may be gang-related," he said.
