SAN MARCOS - Hundreds headed to the 99 Cents Only store at 155 S. Rancho Santa Fe Road in San Marcos to get their hands on iPods that cost only 99 cents.

For it's grand opening, the store offered the first nine customers an iPod Nano at the reduced price of 99 cents.

San Diego 6 was there as the customers, some of whom had waited in front of the store for 26 hours, got their hands on the big deals.  They said they had learned about the promotion and couldn't pass up the opportunity, even if it meant sleeping on the cold concrete.

There were hundreds of other shoppers who didn't get an iPod, but found other promotional deals tied to the grand opening.  The 10th thru 109th customers got a Razr scooter for only 99 cents, and the next 99 got a Pirates of the Carribean book for the same price.

Jim Luciano, district manager for the 99 Cent only Stores, said this is their way of showing appreciation to their customers.
