SAN DIEGO - A drive-by shooting on a Stockton-area street sent a 16-year-old boy to a hospital with non-life-threatening wounds Fri afternoon.
The teen was walking to the south on 30th Street, near Webster Avenue, shortly before 2:30 p.m. when a silver four-door sedan pulled up next to him and someone inside opened fire with a shotgun loaded with birdshot, according to San Diego police.
The victim ran to the 2900 block of Clay Avenue in nearby Logan Heights, where friends came to his aid, SDPD Sgt. Ray Battrick said. One of them made an emergency call, and officers found the boy in front of a store in the neighborhood.
Medics took the youth to a trauma center for treatment of wounds to his left arm, elbow and side, Battrick said.
Gang detectives were investigating the assault.
