5.1 Earthquake Felt in San Diego

SAN DIEGO  - A magnitude 5.1 earthquake, classified as a moderate earthquake, struck Baja California in Mexico Saturday afternoon, but caused no known damage or injuries. 

The earthquake was centered 25 miles southeast of Calexico and about 100 miles east of Tijuana, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The larger earthquake at 3:55 p.m. was followed by six smaller earthquake including a 4.2 magnitude light earthquake at 4:36 p.m., a minor 3.2 magnitude earthquake at 6:01 p.m., a minor 3.3 earthquake at 7:56 p.m. and a 3.0 magnitude quake at 10:05 p.m. Saturday.  Two micro earthquakes were also included in the cluster.

The 5.1 earthquake was felt by a few people as far away as downtown San Diego and the San Diego beach communities, according to the U.S.G.S.
