LEMON GROVE - An elderly man was found dead of apparently natural causes today outside his East County home, a sheriff's official reported.
A newspaper carrier found man, believed to be in his 80s, in front of his residence in the 3100 block of New Jersey Avenue in Lemon Grove early this morning, Lt. Dennis Brugos said.
Due to the presence of blood at the scene, deputies called in homicide investigators, Brugos said. The detectives eventually concluded, however, that there was no immediate evidence that criminal activity played a role in the death.
The man's name was withheld pending notification of his family.
An autopsy was pending.
