Recently we told you that the patrol unit is being eliminated and the horses will be sold at auction as budget cuts forced the police department to cut its $250,000 a year program.

The mounted unit has patrolled Balboa Park and the beaches to help with crowd control.

The mayor's office says if the funds can be raised, it will consider keeping the unit intact.

The organization Saving San Diego Mounted Patrol has a website up and running.

Crib Recall

The deaths of three infants are prompting yet another safety recall on baby cribs.

The cribs were made by Generation 2 Worldwide, which went out of business in 2005. The CPSC believes that more than 500,000 cribs were sold. They were available nationwide at furniture and other stores, including Buy Buy Baby, Kmart, Wal-Mart.

Crib owners should contact the place of purchase for information on remedies including refunds, replacements and store credit.

CPSC says owners should contact the agency if they have difficulty getting a remedy.
