Man Beat with Metal Rod in Argument Over Noise

ESCONDIDO - Two men attacked a third man with a 3-foot-long decorative metal rod in Escondido, slightly injuring him during a fight over excessive noise at an apartment complex, police said.

The attack in the area of North Citrus Avenue and Wanek Road was reported shortly before 10 p.m. Monday, Escondido police Sgt. Mike Graesser said.

A 24-year-old parolee was arrested at the scene on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, while the second assailant fled before officers arrived, according to police.

The man who was attacked did not require hospitalization, Graesser said.

7-Eleven Robbery

SAN DIEGO - A man in his 20s was in custody Tuesday, accused of using a switchblade to rob an Allied Gardens convenience store of cash and cigarettes, police said.

The robbery at the 7-Eleven at 7427 Mission Gorge Road was reported at 9:45 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

Officers arrested the alleged robber a couple of blocks away a short time later. His name was not immediately released.

No one was injured in the robbery, Delimitros said.

Fencing Mask Robbery

SAN DIEGO - A man wearing a fencing mask and white gloves robbed a convenience store in western Clairemont Mesa, but no one was hurt, police said Tuesday.

The man, who was not carrying a weapon, demanded cash from a clerk at Circle K store at 4360 Genesee Ave. around 11:10 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

The clerk complied and the man ran away in a southbound direction, Delimitros said.

Police described the strong-arm robber as white, around 6 feet and 180 pounds.

North Park Robbery

SAN DIEGO - Two young men wearing bandanas over their faces robbed a Cricket Wireless store in North Park at gunpoint but no one was hurt, police said.

The robbery at 2516 University Ave. was reported at 7:11 p.m. Monday, according to San Diego police Officer Dino Delimitros.

A Hispanic man around of 6 feet with a medium build pointed a gun at a clerk and demanded money, a laptop computer and Blackberry, Delimitros said.

The clerk complied and both robbers ran out the back door to a sport utility vehicle, he said. The second robber was described as Asian and around 5 feet 8 with a medium build.

Delimitros said both robbers appeared to be around 18-20 years old.
