SAN DIEGO - A 63-year-old woman died after her car rolled off a curvy Balboa Park roadway and struck a tree.
Nancy Ellen Whalen was driving about 11:15 p.m. Saturday in the 1600 block of 26th Street, bordering the Balboa Park Municipal Golf Course north of Golden Hill, when she lost control of her vehicle, San Diego Police Sgt. Joe Steffen said.
Whalen, who was wearing her seatbelt, was cut out from her car by firefighters, who were unsuccessful in their efforts to revive her, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
Authorities said the San Diego resident was pronounced dead at the scene.
