SAN DIEGO - The National unemployment numbers are the highest they've been in two-and-a half decades. The October jobless rate rose from 6.1% last year to 10.2% this year.

Even people who have jobs are seeing their pay and their benefits cut so they are having to find jobs on the side to make ends meet.

"We moved out here to pursue the American dream of business and you know the economy took a hit," says GigAlert creator Doug Macklen.

He needed a second job but had a hard time finding one so he created a web site called GigAlert to make it easy to find a gig. On GigAlert you can post your profile and the type of work you are looking for, or find people to work for you. The postings are free. Once there is a match, you can be alerted via text.

"Gigs range anything from handy man to 'I need an accountant,'" says Macklen.

So if your job just isn't paying enough or you're a stay at home Mom looking to boost your bottom line, the next job could just be a mouse click away.
