GASLAMP QUARTER - The New Year is upon us and revelers are making their way downtown for the midnight celebrations.

Matt Greene is the General Manager of the Hard Rock where they are expecting 4,000 party-goers. "It's going to be a phenomenal event. People are very excited -- and you can feel the anticipation."

Several hours before the clock strikes twelve, people aren't wasting any time getting the party started.

"The plan tonight is being with my friends and sitting in this cage," Kimberley Taylor told San Diego 6.

Kent Graves came all the way from Orange County to enjoy the downtown San Diego ambiance and has his plans all laid out for 2010. "I'm looking forward to a nice, relaxing year. I look forward to going to Australia and drinking beer."

For some San Diegans, the New Year's Eve party started at the neighborhood liquor store.

Andrew Sandoval is staying away from the downtown madness. "I'll probably go to a friend's house and hangout."

Sandoval believes a New Year's Eve house party is the best bet logically and economically. Especially with room rates downtown, including a party ticket, going for $600. "Money-wise, it's really expensive to go out, and with that I want to stay off the roads."

Whether you're at the clubs or at home with friends, San Diego 6 wishes you all a happy 2010.
