RAMONA - The Lehr's home of seven years is destroyed after a 62' tree crashes on top of it.

"I'm grateful to be alive -- to have my daughter alive," says homeowner Alisa Lehr.

Even though Alisa and her seven-year-old daughter have been staying in a hotel for almost a week because they feared the leaning tree would fall, Lehr says they were in the home 20 minutes before it fell.

Lehr says her home could have been saved. Weeks before it fell, she says San Diego Gas & Electric knew the tree was in trouble, but told the Lehrs it was their responsibility to take down the tree. Lehr wanted the power company to remove the tree because she says the trimming SDG&E did on the tree made it lopsided and caused it to lean.

The spokesperson says the tree hasn't been trimmed since 2001 but admits they clipped the power lines that led to the tree falling on the house.

"Instead of having it impact the local neighborhood, and pull down the power lines along that area, we went out there right away," says Spokesperson April Bolduc.

Bolduc says SDG&E is working with the family's insurance agent to pay for the damage. Now seven weeks pregnant, Lehr hopes they'll be able to call this wreckage home before the baby arrives.
