OCEANSIDE - A 60-foot pleasure boat hit a jetty at Oceanside Harbor and sank in shallow water, but the two people aboard got ashore uninjured.
The captain of the Smooth Operator 2 put a distress call about 11 p.m., and Oceanside firefighters and lifeguards responded, according to Oceanside police Sgt. Leonard Cosby.
The power boat, which apparently was holed, flipped onto its side and sank in about 5 feet of water next to the jetty, according to Bay News Video.
Lifeguards jumped into the water and tried to anchor the boat before it sank to no avail, Cosby said.
Emergency crews were monitoring the boat until a salvage crew could refloat it and haul it out of the water.
Alcohol and drugs were not a factor in the accident, Cosby said.
