One Injured, 15 Left Homeless in Apartment Building Fire

SAN DIEGO - One person was hurt and four families displaced from their homes in a fire Sunday.

The blaze was reported just after 3 a.m. in the Villa Nueva apartmentsin the 3600 block of Beyer Boulevard.

Several units were engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived.

A San Diego Fire Department dispatcher said one person was hospitalized and 15 people lived in the damaged units.

The cause was being investigated, but damage was set at $400,000 for the apartment building and $100,000 for contents, she said.
