A once beloved sailboat is now in pieces on Imperial Beach. The boat got stuck offshore more than two days ago.
The two men on board made a daring jump for their lives. They were rescued, but the boat was not.
Salvage crews tried to take the boat out in one piece on Tuesday, but they say it was impossible.
"What happened yesterday, we tried to pull it out with a wrecker. [The wrecker] wasn't heavy enough," explained Ben Cain. "There was too much water, too much sand in it...we couldn't move it."
Cain and his crew worked feverishly Tuesday night to get the debris removed from the beach before the tide swept it away.
