CLAIREMONT - A shoplifting suspect stabbed a security guard, leaving him with serious wounds, before fleeing from a Clairemont area Vons Friday night.
The stabbing happened around 9 p.m. after store security detained a man for allegedly shoplifting. The suspect fled the store located in the 5500 block of Balboa Avenue.
The suspect is described as an Asian male in his 20's with a muscular build, wearing black shorts, a cutoff t-shirt and no shoes.
The suspect was seen fleeing south, possibly into an apartment complex.
The guard has been taken to Sharp Memorial Hospital. His injuries are considered life threatening.
