OCEANSIDE - A public viewing was held at the Oceanside Mortuary for 16-year-old Scott Roberts on Friday.

Roberts died from Alcohol Poisoning, according to authorities, after a night of heavy drinking at a Carlsbad home.

Tequila, vodka and whiskey; earlier this week, several boys were playing drinking games at a Carlsbad home. The amount Scott Roberts consumed was frightening. Police say his blood alcohol level was about .38. That's more than four times the legal limit.

Scott didn't wake up the next morning.

"Obviously shock, rage, upset, the full gamut," Steven Roberts told San Diego 6 news today reacting to his son's death.

Steven said he hadn't met the friends whose house Scott was at, but says he did have a cell phone number and knew two other boys his son was with.

The loss has devastated Steven, his wife Ursula and their two daughters. "She is devastated. He was our only boy and just the sweetest, nicest human being you ever wanted to meet."

We spoke with several folks in the neighborhood. One man, who didn't want to be identified, told us that one of the kids that lives at the home has been kicked out of at least two schools.

"he got kicked out of La Costa Canyon, went to Sunset, got kicked out of Sunset, and went to San Marcos."

For the Robert's family, the pain of losing their boy is more than they can handle.

"I'm just in a daze, I'm numb, I feel a loss," says Steven.

The family is holding a funeral for Scott Saturday afternoon at one o'clock at the Meadowlark Community Church in San Marcos.
