UPDATE:  Gabby has been adopted!   To learn more about other adoptable animals, contact the San Diego Animal Support Foundation at www.SDShelters.com.

Gabby is a Bluetick Coon Hound, available for adoption from the El Cajon Animal Shelter

We don't see many of this breed out here, so it's a great opportunity for Bluetick fans.  Her owner died, resulting in this sweet, gentle soul being brought to the shelter at the age of eight!  It's tough to get a dog of that age adopted, but hopefully someone will realize that she's in the shelter by no fault of her own, and that sometimes older dogs are the best companions.

Gabby is friendly with other dogs, and completely housebroken.  They know for a fact that she lived with an elderly lady and was an indoor house dog. She'd also love a yard to hang out in. Typical of the hound, she does bay sometimes, so she may not be cut out for apartment living. She knows how to sit and lay down, and loves her treats.

The El Cajon Animal Shelter is located at 1275 North Marshall Street, open from 10 am to 5:30 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. You can call (619) 579-3375 for more information.

Gabby's ID number is 11072, and her adoption fee is just $30, and includes spay, vaccinations, microchip and health tests.
