Goose: Monday Adoption Pet 12/26/11UPDATE: Goose has been adopted! To learn more about other adoptable animals, contact the San Diego Animal Support Foundation at www.SDShelters.com.
What Goose wants most is a family of his own, and he’d even be good in a family with young kids. Goose is a 2-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who's compact for his breed at just 55 pounds. Like most Chessies, he loves the water and he’s a hit at the beach. He's charming, and will keep a family in laughing all the time; he has this habit of reaching his paw high up over his head like he's waving when someone he knows approaches him. He doesn’t possess the hard headedness most Chessies are known for, which is why he’s great with kids. He likes to ride in the car and he’s crate-trained. Goose has been passed over for adoption for a year because he may have hip issues when he’s older. You certainly wouldn't know it, to see him playing in his yard and leaping into the waves. They took him to the best orthopedic vet in town who said his condition can be maintained with proper weight control and moderate exercise, which he seems just fine with!
