BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics and Miami Heat are playing this evening for the right to face the Miami Heat in the NBA Eastern Conference finals. The Heat and Celtics are all tied up at 3-3 with Game 7 taking place tonight in Boston.
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Francisco Liriano is back in the starting rotation for the Minnesota Twins. Manager Ron Gardenhire made the announcement today. Liriano began the season in the rotation but was sent to the bullpen on May 9.
CHICAGO (AP) — Catcher Carlos Santana of the Indians appears headed to the seven-day concussion list. He was struck in the face mask by a foul tip in last night's game with Chicago. Manager Manny Acta also says that All-Star shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera (ahs-DROO'-buhl kah-BREHR'-uh) is day to day because of tightness in his left hamstring.
ATLANTA (AP) — Things aren't going the way Chipper Jones wanted in his final season of big-league play. The Atlanta Braves have placed the third baseman on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised left leg. Jones, who is 40, is hitting .307 with five homers and 24 RBIs.
PARIS (AP) — The second Grand Slam tennis event of the year starts play tomorrow in Paris. It's the French Open and Novak Djokovic (NOH'-vak JOH'-kuh-vich), the winner of the last three major tournaments, is poised to take another one. The last time he lost a Grand Slam match was in the French Open last year when he was beaten by Roger Federer in the semifinals.
