LONDON (AP) — The U.S. men's Olympic 4x100-meter relay team will open with a one-time football player, a relative unknown, another newcomer with only three Olympic races under his belt and a sprinter who had a costly drop four years ago in Beijing.

The relay team for Friday's preliminaries includes former Florida running back Jeff Demps, Trell Kimmons, 100-meter finalist Ryan Bailey and Darvis Patton. That's according to Demps' agent, Nohemy Baltodano.

Baltodano says Demps was informed of the preliminary lineup Tuesday. The Americans likely are saving top sprinters Justin Gatlin and Tyson Gay for Saturday's final. Gatlin won a bronze medal in the 100 meters. Gay finished fourth.

Demps and Kimmons have no Olympic experience. Patton fumbled an exchange at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, costing the Americans a shot at a medal.
