CINCINNATI (AP) — The Cincinnati Reds began today's opener of a day-night doubleheader with visiting Chicago holding a six-game lead over second-place Pittsburgh in the NL Central standings. Johnny Cueto (KWAY'-toh) of the Reds is looking to join Tampa Bay's David Price as the only 16-game winners in the major leagues.
CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds and Cubs have both recalled a pitcher from the minors to start tonight's second game of a twinbill in Cincinnati. The home team will hand the ball to 27-year-old right-hander Todd Redmond for his major league debut, while 24-year-old lefty Brooks Raley will make his third start of the season for Chicago.
NEW YORK (AP) — Mark Teixeira (teh-SHEHR'-uh) will miss a second straight start today when the Yankees host Boston Red Sox (4:05 p.m. Eastern). New York's slick-fielding first baseman is resting a sore left wrist. Teixeira is batting .257 with 23 homers and 78 RBIs.
