SAN CLEMENTE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say U.S. Border Patrol agents have seized more than $300,000 worth of crystal methamphetamine in southern Orange County and a Mexican national is under arrest on suspicion of smuggling.

The Border Patrol said Saturday that agents stopped a Dodge Durango truck driving north on Interstate 5 through San Clemente on Thursday.

The driver — a 27-year-old legal resident from San Ysidro — gave permission to search his car.

Agent Jerry Conlin says a drug inspection team found a duffel bag with 15.4 pounds of crystal meth, worth an estimated $356,000.

The suspect — whose name was not immediately released — was turned over along with the drugs to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
