ORANGE COVE, Calif. (AP) — The son of Orange Cove Mayor Victor Lopez is facing drug charges after deputies say they found illegal pills in his home.

Fresno County authorities say 43-year-old Victor Lopez Jr. was arrested on suspicion of narcotics possession after deputies serving a search warrant Wednesday found the pills. Investigators also recovered what they believe may be city property.

Officials haven't released many details about the arrest, but say the warrant was served as part of an ongoing identity theft investigation.

It's not clear exactly what deputies were looking for when they served the warrant.

City Manager Alan Bengyel says Lopez Jr. was under contract to provide security for the city's skateboard and BMX bike parks.

It's not known if Lopez had hired an attorney.
