Starting January 31st at the Fleet Science Center, Don't Try This at Home will start. It is a series of live shows that explore science that's too messy, too noisy and too hair-raising to do at home.
Between dissipating swell and mundane odd jobs, they had plenty of time on their hands to ponder the future and reflect on their travels. While reminiscing of perfect waves, majestic mountains, and remote country sides, the conversations would inevitably shift back to the same topic: How did the world look before man left his footprint? What was it like to surf after it rained and not develop fever or sickness from polluted waters? How did it look before plastic bags and soda cans became the "official flower" in some countries?
These were some of the thoughts and experiences that fueled founders Jeff Goldberg and Tanner Haigwood's platform idea: Create a business that can make a difference.
Cali Bamboo was formed in 2004. It was founded and is run by people who love the outdoors and share the commitment to protect it. Cali Bamboo currently donates 1% of its revenue to various environmental organizations and will only sell products that are sustainable and do not impact the planet negatively.
Tanner Haigwood, Vice President, Chief Operating Officer has lived and worked around the world including Alaska and Argentina. He has a background in sales and marketing, international relations, and project management in residential and commercial construction. He holds a B.S. in Dietetics from the University of Maryland.
