Belgian tennis player Yanina Wickmayer has been suspended, effective immediately, by the Flemish Doping Tribunal for failing to notify officials of her location.

Following the suspension, Wickmayer, a US Open semifinalist this year, voluntarily withdrew from the Commonwealth Bank Tournament of Champions event currently ongoing.

WTA Tour Chairman and CEO Stacey Allaster said after Wickmayer's withdrawal that she was suspended "due to three filing failures under the Belgian anti- doping whereabouts programme."

Multiple media outlets have reported the suspension as being for one year. Allaster added that Wickmayer can appeal the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Wickmayer was replaced in the draw by Vera Dushevina.
